31 Marathons 31 Days

Hello Hello..... 

Yeah, it’s me again 🙃

Last year I challenged myself to run the Melbourne Marathon in sub 3 hours, which I failed, crossing the line in 3:02. So, since that moment, i've continually thought. What's next? 

31 Marathons in 31 Days. 

That seems like a very normal and natural progression...........right?

Jokes aside, for those who don't know me, brain cancer is something close to mine and my families hearts. 

For those who have read all of this before....my bad. 

In 2013, my beautiful mother Karen (she was one of the good Karens I swear), was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma. 

This changed everything, not for just myself, but for anyone who knew mum. She truly was a beautiful human and I’m incredibly fortunate to call her my mother. In 2016 however, mum unfortunately lost her hard fought battle and passed away. Despite this she continues to inspire me everyday. I wouldn’t have the life I do today without her.

I get asked a lot why I do “stupid shit” like this. It’s pretty easy, for her. 

Mum is my 'why'. 

I remember driving with my father Michael to see her a couple of days after she was diagnosed, when the doctor called and said she was being taken into emergency surgery. To then see her get through that and push on for 3 years is something that will be with me forever. Mum was very active person, and to see her lose that ability is something that, despite not realising it at the time, has stuck with me and will for the rest of my life. 

My motivation for this challenge is obviously to push myself harder than I ever have and to run for mum, however, it's also to run for anyone who can't. I believe we are so fortunate to be able to move our bodies and it's easy to forget the amount of people who would give anything to just walk to the shops. 

I plan on sharing more of mum and myself story as I prepare for this. 

But now, for the good stuff. 

I will run 31, consecutive, full marathons in 31 days from July 31 to August 30 (August 31 is a Monday, and that seems like a horrible day to celebrate). 

I work full time, this will be in addition to my full time, Monday - Friday 9-5 working arrangements - I'm literally under contract, no I don't have any leave I can use. 

I can't wait to start this journey, to anyone that shares, donates or even gives me a head nod when I see you. Thank you, truly. Im so fortunate to be able to attempt something like this, and all I wanna do is make a difference.
