Getting Started
How do I register to raise funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation?
CBCF Hero fundraising initiatives come in all shapes and sizes! Whether you’re taking on a challenge, hosting an event in your local community or celebrating a milestone, we’re thrilled that you’ve chosen to fundraise to help improve survival rates and quality of life for people with brain cancer.
Every dollar raised truly makes a difference.
Choose your fundraiser type and register or contact us if you’re still not sure how you’d like to fundraise or if you have any questions.
You will receive an email once your application form has been successfully submitted. Allow 48 hours for a confirmation receipt to be issued. Approval can take between 5-7 working days.
If you prefer not to set up an online fundraising page, contact us and we’ll register you on our system.
How long can I fundraise for?
Your fundraising page will be kept open for 6 months from the date of registration.
Is there a minimum amount I need to raise?
There’s no minimum amount we ask you to raise. Every dollar counts, so simply do your best and you’ll be surprised by people’s generosity!
Fundraising
What is my fundraising dashboard?
Your fundraising dashboard is how you access features and update information on your fundraising page. You’ll just need to login to your account to do the following things:
- Personalise your page with your own story and photos
- Share your page on social media
- Send emails to collect donations and thank your donors
- View and download resources to help with your fundraising
- Check how many donations you have received and from whom
- Download some awesome resources to help increase your fundraising
How do I ask for donations?
Asking is the first step! Don’t be afraid to go out to your network with your ‘why’. Let people know your personal connection to brain cancer and how and why you’re fundraising.
Share the link to your fundraising page on social media, and via email and text messages to your network. We’ve got heaps of fundraising resources to help you with this and our team are always on hand if you’re in need of additional support.
Don’t forget, many workplaces also offer dollar matching, so it’s worth asking your boss if this is something they can do.
Can I make my fundraiser a yearly event?
Yes, absolutely! We welcome annual fundraisers. Simply select “Yes” to the question: “Would you like to make this an annual fundraiser?” in the registration form.
We’ll send you an email 11 months after your initial registration date to remind you to set up your page again.
About Cure Brain Cancer Foundation
Why is it important to raise funds for brain cancer research and support services?
Brain cancer is one of the deadliest and most underfunded forms of cancer. It can affect people of any age, often with devastating speed, and survival rates have remained tragically low for decades.
Unlike many other cancers, there are still very few effective treatments, and progress has been slow due to limited funding.
Your fundraising efforts will help to raise awareness and vital funds to help find a cure for brain cancer.
How are the funds raised used?
Our mission is to unite our community to increase brain cancer survival and quality of life.
We do this by investing in innovative and groundbreaking research through our Fellowship program, and pioneering GBM Agile clinical trial. We also fund vital advocacy programs to help patients and their families access support services and government funding.
Will Cure Brain Cancer Foundation support my fundraiser?
Yes! Once you create your fundraising page, you’ll receive email communications from us with tips and tricks to help you along the way.
You'll also find a range of downloabable resources, including your Fundraising Toolkit, in your fundraising dashboard.
You can reach out at any time by phone or email if you have any questions and let us know if you'd like us to share details of your fundraiser on our social media channels.
General
Can my donors receive a tax-deductible receipt?
Yes, your donors will automatically receive a tax-deductible receipt from us when they donate $2 or more to your page.
Please note that the Australian Taxation Office have ruled that donations are not tax-deductible if a person receives goods or services in return for the money given (i.e. the purchase of any services or items, raffle / action / competition tickets or event entry tickets etc).
Can you cover any expenses for my fundraising event?
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation cannot pay expenses you may incur when organising your event.
However, you may debit necessary expenses from the proceeds of the fundraising activity, if they are properly documented.
Please take all reasonable steps to ensure that the expenses do not exceed a fair and reasonable proportion of the gross proceeds obtained from the event.
