In Loving Memory: David Jones 65th Birthday Memorial

By Sammi Jones

In Honour of David Jones 65th Birthday.

On July 13th 2023, only 10 days before his 62nd birthday my fully fit and healthy dad went to work just like every normal day, however he never came home the same.

After suffering a seizure behind the wheel of his car, he crashed into the property he was working at. When paramedics finally were finally called after he was found 7 hours later the original suspicion was a heart attack. He was lucky to survive this first episode and was rushed to SCGH Hospital in a critical condition where he remained for a fortnight. In that time, multiple tests were conducted to figure out just what had happened and it was only a few days before my mum and I recieved the devastating news that my strong, brave, hardworking daddy had a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Brain Tumour.

From that moment onwards for next five months my mum and I were full time primary carers. Just five months later, after an incredibly brave battle my dad passed away in my arms on my kitchen floor 12 days before christmas.

As of the 13th of this month, it has now been 3 years since my world and life changed forever. On the 23rd of July, my dad would be turning 65. He should be here.

Brain Cancer is has no cure and very little funding. In honour of my dads birthday I am raising vital funds and awareness for a disease that no person or family deserves to experience.
